Work backwards
Buy a huge desk оr wall calendar and find the month and day when the project is due to be submitted and then argued. Add three to five days before that due date, as a buffer. This can be an emergency or sick day buffer. Then as odd as this sounds, go backwards and create due dates for the project. It seems to be working backwards, but this will keep you on track to finish three to five days early if all goes as planned.
